ABOUT
WHAT IS PERFILES DE LA FRONTERA?
Perfiles de la Frontera /// Profiles of the Border mission is to tell, showcase, and unite the people, places, ecologies, and geographies of the United States///Mexico borderlands through expression, collective action, and community.
We are a collective.
Leading with care, love, and justice for the borderlands, we follow the principle of uniting ecologies that the border separates. We center the voices, histories, genealogies, and all of the human, non-human, and everything interwoven and outside these worlds that sustain the ecologies of the United States-Mexico borderlands. Our goal is to be led by Borderland communities, defined broadly, and highlight/acknowledge the unique, complex, and sacred lived experiences/knowledge of the various contexts – keeping them at the center of the conversation.
We acknowledge, recognize, and condemn the histories of anti-blackness, anti-indigeneity, and xenophobia through which the borderlands were constructed and have been perpetuated. We call to action for these violent acts and structures to be undone in a restorative way, from the level of the self to the spiritual to the physical to the community to governments and everything between and outside these systems in which these violent acts and structures have impacted.
Our mission is to be a safe space for all, open dialogue, and deconstruction of the colonial-capitalist systems in which we inhabit–opening opportunities for new worlds, imaginations, and expressions.
